We are delighted to share with you that ‘Photographic Treatment ©’ just won the Author Book award at Les Rencontres d’Arles! We are very grateful to the jury, composed of Marloes Krijnen, Irene De Mendoza, Véronique Bergero, Ilgın Deniz Akseloğlu, Vera Michalski and Muriel Enjalran. The book’s publisher, Dewi Lewis, received last night the award from Marloes Krijnen, the jury president, in the théatre antique in Arles.

Full of excitement we look back at the opening of Laurence Aëgerter’s exhibition Photographic Treatment ©. The opening was Saturday the 4th of November in Galerie Block C in Groningen. The exhibition consisted of diptych prints silkscreened with scents like soap, lavender and eucalyptus. Besides it was the premiere of the Living Image, a short film of 11 minutes in which an elderly lady in an advanced stage of dementia shares her thoughts with the audience while she looks at the photographs…

A few days ago 8 people of nursing home the Huize Plantage, Amsterdam, participated enthusiastically to a group photo-intervention and found exciting and new photo combinations. A lady understood quickly and naturally what she was supposed to do. She made a story of four photos: a bee flies from flower to flower, and by mistake approaches a crystal shaped like a flower, forcing her to stop working. On Wednesday 13th of September Laurence Aëgerter presented Photographic Treatment © at the FOAM edition book launch, organized by Lotte Klösters. Thanks to prof. Dick Swaab scientific knowledge of dementia was given which opened up a vibrant Q&A. The book sales and the enthusiasm of the people confirmed the actuality of the subject and a common desire to give a positive contrition to people who live with dementia.
